Two members of staff from NatWest's branch in Machynlleth are currently enjoying their 15 minutes of fame after being selected to star in one of the bank's TV adverts.
17 Mar 2011
Branch manager Eirlys Pugh was chosen after winning the bank's internal ‘helpful heroes' challenge, which encourages bank staff to go the extra mile to help their customers. Eirlys, who lives in Aberhosan, has worked for NatWest for 41 years. Eirlys' colleague at the branch, customer services officer Jennifer Venables, also got in on the act and was chosen for a role in the ad. Jennifer has been with NatWest for three years and lives in Tywyn.
Of her acting debut, Eirlys said: "I was thrilled to be chosen to take part. To be seen by millions of people on the telly is a bit strange I suppose but my family and friends have all been very impressed. Customers have been into the branch to say they've spotted us in the ad as well. The filming was a lot of fun but I think my acting career will be rather shortlived as I get back to the day job!"
Jennifer said: "It was a wonderful experience and I feel very lucky to have been a part of it."
The ad will run on all terrestrial TV channels and Sky for the next few weeks.
