RBS announces shortlist of projects for a share of the newly launched £2.5 million community fund
88 organisations running projects all over the UK and Ireland have been shortlisted for a share of a new £2.5million Skills & Opportunities fund set up by RBS.
The fund is dedicated to supporting projects in disadvantaged communities that help people to help themselves by learning new skills, getting into the world of work or setting up their own business.
The Skills & Opportunities fund launched on 11 May and in only two weeks attracted 1,066 applications for funding. Thom Kenrick, Head of Community Programmes, RBS Sustainability said:
“We expected the response to be good but have been bowled over by the volume of applications. Pulling together a shortlist from so many fantastic projects was a real challenge. We expect people will have a hard time selecting their regional favourites from such a strong line-up.”
Because of the volume of interest and the number of people trying to vote, there have been occasions when the voting buttons have been unavailable. For this reason, the public voting window has been extended to Monday 22 June at 9am to maximise the opportunity to vote. We will continue to monitor the site, however, should users experience any issues, we would kindly ask that they persist and continue to ‘refresh’ until the voting buttons reappear.
The results of the public vote will count as one vote alongside those from a panel of judges in each region, deciding who receives funding in July this year.
