Here Princess Elizabeth, aged 13, passes Drummonds branch and Trafalgar Square with her father King George VI, her mother Queen Elizabeth and sister Princess Margaret. The Royal Family were returning to London in July after a trip to Canada and the USA.

These photographs from the archive show bank branches along the Coronation parade route through London, including Drummonds and the National Bank on Whitehall.

Branches all over the UK were decorated for the event, including the Matlock branch of Williams Deacons Bank.

In this photograph the new Royal Family - Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Anne – pass Drummonds on Trafalgar Square as they return from a world tour.
