Our People Pledge
At the start of 2020, we launched our People Pledge – a set of commitments made in response to what colleagues told us meant most to them. Despite the challenges of 2020, we delivered against each of the promises, in many cases accelerating planned work, to provide a purpose-led response for colleagues. Our 2021 pledge is split into five promises: Help you develop your skills; Support your wellbeing; Help customers thrive; Create inclusive and connected teams and Help you make a difference.
Creating a healthy culture
Our long-term success depends on us building and nurturing a healthy culture where colleagues are engaged, and where our working environment is underpinned by robust risk behaviours.
Our Employee Led Networks
We support a variety of employee organised and led groups - known as 'Employee Led Networks'. Our networks are sponsored by members of our Executive Committee and are made up of volunteer colleagues who play a key role in delivering, raising awareness of, and influencing our bank-wide inclusion strategy.
Supporting our colleagues
To support our colleagues to serve customers well, we need to create the best working environment possible. We support our colleagues through responsible employment practices.
Supporting early careers
We attract, select and hire the best apprentices, interns and graduates we can. This helps us build the skills and capabilities we need now and for the future.
Health and safety
Most of our employees work in lower risk environments and are not exposed to significant occupational health and safety hazards. Nevertheless, we have a programme of initiatives in place to ensure that we continually improve our health and safety performance.
