Peter Norton was appointed Group Director Strategy, Economics and Corporate Development on 1st July 2025. As part of his remit, he also has responsibility for Sustainability and Climate.

Having joined the Bank in 2018, Peter has broad experience across the Group having held the role of Director of Finance & Investor Relations as well as Finance Director of Commercial Banking and Head of Group Strategy.

Before joining NatWest, Peter spent four years at UK Financial Investments (UKFI). While there, he worked with HM Treasury on the stewardship and monetisation of the government shareholdings in RBS / NatWest, Lloyds, Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley. Prior to UKFI, Peter worked in investment banking at UBS and Lehman Brothers amongst others, advising European Financial institutions on a variety of M&A and capital market transactions.

Peter is a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Warwick. He is also a member of the University of Warwick Investment Committee and a Non-Executive director of Ulydien DAC (Formerly Ulster Bank)

Peter resides in London with his partner and daughter.
