We have accessibility features in all products, services, behaviours and key processes. It’s important that we understand what our customers and colleagues with disabilities need, want and expect from the bank. Doing this helps us to create equal opportunities for everyone.

Celebrating disability

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Within the Bank, we celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Danielle McIntyre, one of the Chairs of our Enable Disability Network, shares more.

“International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity to recognise people worldwide who have a disability and to celebrate, educate and champion change for the equal opportunity and inclusion of all.” Danielle explains.

“Recognising International Day of Persons with Disabilities can have a massive impact on the narrative around disability and can really show the ‘ability’ in disability. It’s an opportunity for colleagues to learn that with accessible buildings, software, attitudes and behaviours, everyone has an equal platform to demonstrate the skills and talents they offer.” Danielle continues, “Hearing real lived experiences also really helps us to appreciate the difficulties people face every day and how we can be part of the resolution and make change.” ​

“We recognised International Day of Persons with Disabilities through a range of fantastic events and opportunities. These were insightful and left colleagues with lots to think about and actions to take. We hope that each year the celebrations will only get bigger, with more people wanting to get involved.”
