We are committed to continue to deliver a better LGBT+ colleague and customer experience through continuously challenging the status quo.
We have worked hard to understand the issues our LGBT+ colleagues and customers face and engage with them regularly to demonstrate that NatWest Group is a welcoming place, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
In addition to the work referenced in our annual reports, we have introduced the option for our transgender customers to use the Mx prefix and have removed the need for existing customers to tell us their gender. For our colleagues, we have introduced dual-sided work passes that allow non-binary colleagues to present in masculine and feminine expression.

LGBT+ innovative case study
Our Transcend Internship in India is a programme which gives transgender people a chance to build a career with our multinational organisation.
The programme was launched in 2019 and lasts for four months. Transcend offers the opportunity to learn more about NatWest Group and provides skills training and on the job learning. Interns also deliver a project that’s defined by the business and presented to senior leaders at the end of their programme, offering an opportunity to build strong networks across NatWest Group. After the programme, Interns can look for permanent roles with NatWest Group.
"I was part of the Transcend programme," Riddhiman Jain, now a Resolution Analyst in Financial Crime and Controls within Services, explains. "NatWest was my first experience of the corporate world, a world I never thought I would join because I didn't think people there would understand me and my journey. But I thank God I got the role because here I don't need to explain myself anymore. I am treated only as a man."
“A truly inclusive environment ensures that everybody brings the best of themselves to work every day. I can say with confidence and pride that NatWest provides this environment.”
