The inaugural meeting was held in January 2012 and will serve the United States government in an advisory capacity on major issues in international business and economic policy, including advancing and promoting the role of women in a competitive global economy.
Meera is the RBS Country Executive for Business Services in India. This incorporates the RBS Foundation India which carries out a range of work across areas including livelihood support, financial inclusion and environmental protection and awareness.
The council comprises of a select group of prominent and experienced business women working in public and private sector organizations. It seeks to pool knowledge and experience from around the world to generate ideas that can empower women. Other members selected to join the council include Cherie Blair; Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the UEA Minister for Foreign Trade; Managing Director of The World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Judith Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Centre in the US.
