Veteran banker to head RBS Indonesia securities business

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS) today announced the appointment of Richard Fischer as Managing Director, Corporate Finance in PT RBS Asia Securities Indonesia (PT RBSASI), with the intention of being named Head of Securities, Indonesia and President Director, subject to approval from Indonesia's Capital Market Supervisory Board (Bapepam).

The appointment is part of RBS's continued focus to grow and strengthen its Indonesian franchise.

Based in Jakarta, Mr. Fischer will head up RBS's securities entity and will also be responsible for enhancing RBS's strong client relationships with local Indonesian corporates.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Naysmith, Country Executive, RBS Indonesia said: "I am delighted to have Richard join the team in Indonesia which remains one of RBS's key growth markets in South East Asia. As we continue to focus on expanding our wholesale and investment banking businesses, Richard's deep market knowledge and entrenched client relationships will allow us to capture and capitalise on the huge growth potential in the market."

Mr. Madan Menon, Country Executive Singapore and Head of GBM India & South East Asia also added: "With over 20 years of banking expertise and business responsibilities in Asian equities and direct origination experience in Indonesia, Richard is a veteran banker and tremendous addition to our Indonesian franchise. I am confident he will make an invaluable contribution to the development of RBS's business in Indonesia."

Mr. Fischer joins RBS from TC Capital, where he has been a Managing Director since 2009. In that role, he was responsible for the origination and execution of Indonesian transactions and advised large Indonesian business groups on local and cross border transactions. He was also a director at PT Indorub, an Indonesia plantation company.

Before TC Capital, Mr. Fischer was with Merrill Lynch for over 12 years, focusing primarily on Asian Equities, working in various markets including New York, Indonesia, San Francisco and Singapore. During this period, he was Merrill Lynch's President Director for Indonesia from 1999-2004, and his last position was the Head of Equities for Singapore and ASEAN. Mr. Fischer started his banking career with Morgan Stanley Asset Management in Singapore and later worked with ING Barings in Indonesia and New York covering U.S. clients investing in Asian equities.

Mr. Fischer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University (1990) and a Masters of Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (2011).

In 2010, RBS raised over USD1 billion for its clients, demonstrating its commitment and support to Indonesian corporations. RBS also has a strong Equities franchise in Asia Pacific.
