Thousands of staff took part in hundreds of events across the year, including during the Bank’s ‘One Week in September’ where staff are encouraged to volunteer during business hours. Staff across the Royal Bank of Scotland are given three days per year to volunteer outside of their standard annual leave entitlement.

Examples of action taken by staff to raise money for CHAS included:

  • 1,000 miles collectively walked by staff through the Kiltwalk
  • A static cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End completed by our Aberdeen Branch
  • Dundee branch abseiling off of the Forth Rail Bridge and Arbroath and Forfar branches abseiling off the Kelpies.
  • One of our mobile vans was wrapped in the CHAS logo and a QR for giving.

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) provides unwavering care to children who may die young and their families, at every step on this hardest of journeys.

They provide support in the early days after a child is diagnosed with a life-shorting condition. Having a very ill child means a family’s life changes enormously, and we are there to help every family member emotionally, clinically, and practically.

CHAS offers integrated palliative and end of life care as well as respite care for the whole family in Scotland’s only two specialist hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch and across Scotland in family homes through their CHAS at home team.

Fiona Easton, Deputy Chair of the Scotland Board, Royal Bank of Scotland said “Royal Bank of Scotland staff have gone above and beyond this year in their activity to raise money for CHAS. From Kiltwalks to sponsored abseils, it has been a real team effort right across the country.

“CHAS do incredible work in supporting children with terminal illnesses and I know that they will use this funding to help children and their families to have as special a Christmas as possible. It has been a real privilege to partner with them for another year.

“Giving back to our communities and supporting good causes is an important value for the Royal Bank of Scotland and the generosity of our staff is at the heart of that approach.”

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland CEO Rami Okasha said: “Across 2025 everyone at the Royal Bank of Scotland has done an incredible job raising funds for CHAS and on behalf of all the children and families supported by CHAS I’d like to say a huge thank you. The £176,350 by the team at the Royal Bank of Scotland will help us continue to deliver expert care to families across Scotland facing the hardest of journeys.

“Last year we supported over 500 children and young people with life shortening conditions and their families, this important partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland will help us continue our work - whether in our hospices, in hospitals, or at home - so that families can make the most of every precious moment together.”
