We take collective action through our signatory status, memberships and accreditations to support NatWest Group’s ambition to build a strategy that is sustainable. In collaboration with our partners, we have advanced a number of key initiatives throughout 2025.
UN Global Compact (UNGC)
We remain a signatory of the UNGC and continue to adhere to the Communication on Progress reporting mechanism. We participated in the UNGC Business and Human Rights Accelerator, Nature Working Group and Sustainability Reporting Working Group.
UN Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB)
NatWest Group became a founding signatory of the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) in September 2019. Our PRB self-assessment report can be found in our 2025 Sustainability Datasheet.
Women in Finance Charter
We continued to be a signatory of the Women in Finance Charter which is a HM Treasury-led pledge for UK financial firms to build a more balanced, fair industry by improving diversity in senior management. NatWest Group’s Chief Financial Officer also represents the bank on the Charter’s Accountable Executive Taskforce. In July 2025, NatWest Group joined an industry-wide hackathon organised by HM Treasury to accelerate progress for women in leadership.
International Capital Markets Association (ICMA)
Our work with the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA) in 2025 saw us contribute to the ICMA Climate Transition Finance working group, with the launch of the ICMA Climate Transition Bond Guidelines as an outcome.
Transition Finance Council
The Transition Finance Council (TFC) is a UK-wide industry body created to drive forward the recommendations of the Transition Finance Market Review (TMFR), an independent review commissioned by HM Treasury to strengthen the UK’s transition finance market. The TFC’s purpose is to lead the implementation of the TMFR’s roadmap and recommendations, and to help position the UK as a global leader in transition finance. NatWest Group’s Chief Financial Officer is a member of the TFC Strategic Steering Group.
UK Finance
NatWest Group chaired the UK Finance Sustainability Strategic Policy Committee, which supports industry-wide sustainability standards.
