‘Swipe right’ for financial compatibility

Our new research shows that financial compatibility is one of the most important factors when it comes to successful relationships

Did you know that people care about good financial health more than good looks when looking for a partner? A study* of 2,000 British adults shows that this in indeed the case. We conducted a study to celebrate the roll-out of our free Know Your Credit Score service to non-customers, which makes up part of our commitments to help more people improve their financial wellness.

* The survey of 2,000 Brits was conducted by Onepoll in June 2023 on behalf of NatWest.

See for yourself

We’ve teamed up with dating expert Charlene Douglas on important money questions to ask in a relationship to check your financial compatibility:

Charlene Douglas says: “Checking in on your financial wellness not only helps you feel like you’re in control but brings with it a sense of pride and determination that radiates to those around you.

By understanding your partner’s financial habits and priorities – and having regular, open conversations to align on those priorities, you can work together to achieve goals and reduce conflict in your romantic relationships.”
