We’ve announced extended lending and further support for the early years sector as part of our role in The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood.

We’re extending our lending target for the early years sector to £100 million. We’re also launching an Early Years Sector Chartered Banker Accreditation for our colleagues to help support the sector with expertise to reflect the unique challenges it faces.

To further support the sector, we’re also launching an Early Years Success Toolkit for childcare providers to help them grow and succeed.

We’ve announced this support as the Taskforce publishes its latest report setting out the business case for prioritising early childhood and announced the first tranche of action to be taken as a result of its work.

Prioritising early childhood for a happier, healthier society sets out how a greater focus on early childhood would create a happier and more productive workforce today and transform the health and wellbeing of the UK economy and society for generations to come.

About the Taskforce

The Taskforce was established in March 2023 by The Princess of Wales to drive the early childhood agenda and galvanise business action. Since then, taskforce members Aviva, The Cooperative Group, Deloitte, Iceland Foods, IKEA UK and Ireland, The LEGO Group, NatWest Group and Unilever, have worked together to develop their understanding of the scale of the opportunity and the role that business can play.
