Cheltenham community celebrates transformed NatWest branch following £248,000 investment

The refurbishment forms part of NatWest's wider £50 million investment programme in branches across the UK and follows the bank's commitment to make no further branch closures until at least 2029.

  • £248,000 investment modernises NatWest's Cheltenham branch, improving how it serves customers in a space designed around their needs.
  • Refurbishment reflects NatWest's commitment to local communities and its pledge of no further branch closures until at least 2029.
  • Branch continues to support the community through Financial Foundations workshops, NatWest Thrive and Financial Health Checks.

Customers, community partners and NatWest colleagues came together last week to celebrate the completion of the refurbishment of NatWest's Cheltenham branch.

The launch event on 10 September marked the transformation of the branch following a £248,000 investment, creating a modern, welcoming space where customers can access support, advice and face-to-face banking services.

Guests enjoyed live music from local jazz band Splanky and refreshments from local artisan bakery Four Anjels and a cheeseboard from local business, The Cheese Works. They also had the opportunity to explore the newly refurbished branch.

Visitors heard from Cheltenham BID, who spoke about the strength of Cheltenham's business community and the town's continued success as a place to live, work and do business.

To mark the occasion, NatWest donated an additional £500 each to Cancer Research UK and Cotswolds Down Syndrome Society, recognising the branch team's longstanding fundraising efforts and support for both charities.

The refurbishment forms part of NatWest's wider £50 million investment programme in branches across the UK and follows the bank's commitment to make no further branch closures until at least 2029.

Jamie Greenbank, Branch Manager, NatWest Cheltenham, said:

"It was fantastic to welcome customers, colleagues and community partners into the branch to celebrate this investment in Cheltenham.

"This refurbishment is about much more than a fresh look. It's created a space where people can come together, have meaningful conversations and access the support they need. Our branch has always been part of the community and these improvements will help us strengthen those connections for many years to come."

Francesca Inman, Cheltenham BID, said:

“Cheltenham continues to demonstrate why it is one of the UK's most dynamic places to live, work and do business. It's encouraging to see continued investment in the town centre, with organisations such as NatWest playing an important role in supporting the businesses, people and communities.”

Lemara Hibbert, Local Director for NatWest Retail, NatWest, said:

"Branches remain an important part of the communities we serve, providing places where people can access trusted support and have conversations that really matter. This investment in Cheltenham reflects our commitment to local communities and ensures we're well placed to support customers, businesses and communities in the best way possible.”

As a bank, NatWest continues to support local communities through initiatives including Financial Foundations workshops, NatWest Thrive and Financial Health Checks, helping people build confidence in managing their money and realise their ambitions as part of its wider Growing Together campaign.

Through its branches, Community Banking Hubs, mobile branches, Post Office partnerships, pop-up banking services and the UK's largest free-to-use bank-operated ATM network, NatWest maintains a presence in more than 1,000 communities across the UK.

  • New customer seating areas and a plumbed-in water cooler.
