Providing asset finance to support investment in farm machinery, technology, renewable energy and wider regenerative farming practices.
Lombard, part of NatWest Group, is making asset finance available to farmers participating in Waitrose's Farming for Nature programme, supporting investment in equipment, technology and infrastructure that can improve productivity and support sustainable farming practices.
Eligible farm businesses can access a tailored asset finance proposition designed to support their investment needs, subject to eligibility and credit approval. Funding can support investment in:
- Modern agricultural machinery and precision farming technologies.
- Water storage, irrigation and renewable energy projects.
- Automation and labour-saving equipment.
- Digital and data-driven technologies that support farm productivity and efficiency.
- Other eligible on-farm improvements and infrastructure.
Asset finance can provide an alternative way for farming businesses to invest in equipment and technology by spreading the cost over an agreed period, helping businesses access assets that support their future plans.
Waitrose launched Farming for Nature in 2024 to support its UK farmers and growers to move towards regenerative farming practices, which aim to restore soil health, conserve water and support wildlife. The programme aims for all its UK farmers and growers to have started using these practices by 2030. To date, Waitrose has invested £2m in helping farmers adopt nature friendly farming.
When it launched the programme, Waitrose committed to helping its UK farmers access finance alongside the knowledge, tools and advice available through Farming for Nature. As part of that commitment, eligible participants can now access Lombard's asset finance offering.
Rachael Watson, Head of Agriculture at Lombard, said: "Investing in modern machinery, technology and infrastructure is important for helping farm businesses remain productive, efficient and resilient for the long term. Through this offer, we're making it easier for farmers participating in the Farming for Nature programme to access asset finance that can support investment in the equipment and technology needed to future-proof their businesses."
