NatWest provides £300m to back affordable housing across the Midlands

NatWest has provided £300 million of funding to two major Midlands housing providers, supporting the delivery of affordable housing and long-term investment in existing homes across the Midlands, East and South East of England.

NatWest has provided £300 million of funding to two major Midlands housing providers, supporting the delivery of affordable housing and long-term investment in existing homes across the Midlands, East and South East of England.

Futures Housing Group has secured £140 million and Amplius £160 million, with the funding supporting plans to deliver new homes, invest in existing properties and improve the quality and sustainability of housing stock. The two packages include £75 million of NatWest Social Loan funding.

The transactions follow NatWest’s recent support for Nottingham Community Housing Association and reflect the bank’s continued commitment to the social housing sector at a time when housing providers are balancing growing demand for affordable homes with the need to invest in existing properties and improve energy performance across their portfolios.

Futures Housing Group’s £140 million refinance package comprises a £115 million revolving credit facility and a £25 million NatWest Social Loan, supporting investment in new and existing homes across the East Midlands.

Amplius’ £160 million package comprises a £75 million revolving credit facility, a £50 million Social Loan and a £35 million retrofit facility delivered through NatWest’s partnership with the National Wealth Fund. The funding will support its ambition to deliver 1,000 new homes a year while investing in existing properties to improve energy efficiency.

Raj Sharma, Director of Finance at Futures Housing Group, said: "This funding strengthens our ability to invest in both new and existing homes, providing long-term certainty that supports the delivery of our plans. It enables us to continue providing quality homes and services while creating better futures for the customers and communities we serve."

Yasmin Holley, Chief Finance Director at Amplius, said: "Our ambition is to deliver more affordable homes while continuing to invest in the quality and sustainability of our existing properties. This funding supports both priorities, helping us increase housing supply and progress improvements that will benefit customers for years to come."

Andrew Dexter, Real Estate Finance Director at NatWest, said: "Housing providers are playing a vital role in addressing demand for affordable housing while continuing to invest in the quality, sustainability and long-term resilience of existing homes.

"The £300 million of funding provided to Futures Housing Group and Amplius demonstrates the scale of ambition across the sector. Through long-term funding solutions, including our Social Loan proposition, we are helping housing providers invest in new affordable homes, improve existing properties and support stronger communities across the regions they serve."
