- NatWest refreshes packaged current account benefits beyond everyday banking and financial support
- Independent analysis ranks the NatWest Silver account top among packaged accounts costing £10 to £15 a month
- NatWest offers a range of Reward packaged accounts providing banking benefits valued from £561 to £3,264 to deliver greater value and peace of mind
NatWest has refreshed its suite of Reward packaged current accounts from today to give customers a range of new health, wellbeing and travel rewards alongside existing insurance and lifestyle benefits.
The enhanced updates to NatWest’s fee-charging accounts will give customers more value and additional practical benefits that help them to save money, access essential services and provide protection for the family.
Following customer research¹, the bank found health services are among the benefits customers would value most, with digital GP appointments (50%) ranking among the top five benefits for those looking for a packaged bank account.
The new benefits also include fee free overseas debit card spending for all Reward customers, access to services such as digital GP appointments, mental health support for Reward Silver, with Platinum and Premier Reward Black account holders also receiving physiotherapy.
These benefits are in addition to existing tastecard, car breakdown cover and travel & lifestyle concierge available with some of NatWest’s packaged accounts.
It’s simple for all Reward account customers to earn cash rewards, which can be used to offset the account fee by moving the reward into the account balance regularly. Cash rewards are the top benefit priority for the majority (60%) of people the bank surveyed.
Consumers should prioritise value and needs
Packaged bank accounts can offer better value for consumers looking to bundle services together – but come with a reminder to check what’s on offer as accounts vary, and to check they will make use of the majority of included benefits so they’re getting the full value.
Personal finance expert Andrew Hagger at MoneyComms advises, “Not all packaged current accounts are the same as the mix and level of benefits can vary widely between banks and accounts. I’d recommend customers shop around, dig a little into the detail and pick an account based on their needs from a bank they can trust.”
NatWest offers a range of current accounts designed to meet different customer needs, from everyday and youth banking through to Reward accounts for retail customers and dedicated Premier accounts, for eligible customers.
NatWest’s new range of packaged accounts
NatWest’s Reward range gives customers a choice of options to suit individual requirements and budgets, from everyday Rewards through to enhanced packaged accounts offering a broader range of benefits for retail customers.
The £2-a-month Reward account now comes with no charges for foreign transactions, while customers can also earn up to £4 a month in Rewards through eligible Direct Debits and more through retailer offers, meaning the monthly Rewards available can more than cover the account fee. For £12 a month, Reward Silver customers will receive benefits worth a total of £561 including access to travel and mobile phone insurance, alongside new virtual GP and mental health support. Customers will also receive 3GB of travel data each year, while the existing tastecard proposition is being enhanced to incorporate cinema discount offers. Reward Platinum, priced at £23 a month, provides a broader package valued at £1,685 and designed with families in mind.
Alongside worldwide travel insurance and UK car breakdown cover, customers gain enhanced mobile phone insurance, including family cover, plus new virtual GP, mental health support and physiotherapy services. Platinum customers will also receive 5GB of travel data a year, while its tastecard and cinema offering is enhanced.
Independent analysis commissioned from Andrew Hagger compared 16 packaged high street bank accounts across three price categories - Basic (under £10 pm), mid-range (£10 to £15pm), top end (£17 to £23pm).
His assessment rated NatWest Reward Silver as number one in the £10 to £15-a-month category based on the breadth and value of its offering, citing its new health and wellness benefits as particularly appealing for customers.
NatWest Reward Platinum was ranked a close second in its category, earning praise for providing mobile phone and worldwide travel insurance for the whole family - not just the account holder.
Of the packaged accounts reviewed just two (including NatWest Platinum) offered all of the following benefits –
1. travel insurance
2. car breakdown cover
3. mobile phone insurance
4. health/wellness benefits
5. cashback/monthly rebate
6. free debit card purchases abroad
Only three of the 16 (less than 20%) standard packaged accounts offer health and wellness benefits – (including NatWest Silver and NatWest Platinum) whilst only two offer discounts on airport lounges – including NatWest (Silver & Platinum)
Andrew Hagger at MoneyComms, said: “The NatWest Silver packaged bank account is the most comprehensive and best value product in the £10 - £15 per month price bracket. The new health & wellness benefits will undoubtedly prove popular with consumers struggling to get appointments with their GP or local hospital.”
“The NatWest Platinum packaged account deal offers excellent value at £23 per month – particularly as monthly reward benefits totalling £4 per month are so easy to earn – thus bring the net cost down to just £19 per month for such a wide range of useful benefits”.
“To get the most from the account you ideally need to have a car, mobile phone and travel overseas – this will work for many people and represents great value, particularly with the recently added health and wellness benefit on top.”
Des McDaid, Managing Director of Everyday Banking, said: “Customers tell us they want products and services that make life simpler and work harder for them every day. That’s what sits behind these changes. We’ve brought together the health, travel, insurance and lifestyle benefits that customers use and value most, alongside spending rewards, so they can access more of what matters to them in one place. When people can get the support and benefits they need through a single account, it makes managing everyday life that bit easier.”
Premier accounts
NatWest Premier Banking combines everyday banking with personalised support and access to financial expertise, helping eligible customers manage their money today while planning for their longer-term financial goals.
Premier Reward at £2 a month, offers everyday Rewards and the chance for customers to earn up to £9 a month in Rewards through eligible Direct Debits and more from retailer offers. Customers won’t now get charged a foreign transaction fee when they use their debit card to buy things abroad or to make a payment in a foreign currency.
Premier Reward Black, priced at £39 a month, brings together NatWest’s broadest range of packaged account benefits. Worth a total of £3,264 new health and wellbeing services for Premier Reward Black customers include virtual GP access, mental health support, physiotherapy, expert medical opinion and an annual health check. Customers will also receive 5GB of travel data every month, alongside existing travel and mobile phone insurance benefits.
In the premier bank space, the NatWest Premier Reward Black account is the only packaged account to offer the additional core benefits of European car breakdown and mobile phone insurance providing the most comprehensive range of services for customers prioritising convenience, health and wellbeing.
Andrew Hagger at MoneyComms, said: “For just £360 per year (net of £9 monthly reward) NatWest Premier Reward Black offers an unrivalled suite of solid benefits, no frills, just things that customers and their children can benefit from, and all for the equivalent of less than a pound a day.”
“The Reward Black has an impressive array of cover and benefits included without the ‘Private Bank’ price tag.”
Tamara van den Ban, Managing Director of NatWest Premier Banking, said: “People are juggling more demands on their time than ever before, whether that’s managing their finances, sorting out insurance, organising travel or simply keeping on top of everyday admin. For Premier customers in particular, convenience, protection and access to useful services can be every bit as important as the financial value of individual benefits. By adding further lifestyle benefits to the range of existing personalised support we offer, our refreshed Premier Reward Black account is designed to provide practical assistance to help customers manage their busy lives.”
The benefits will be offered through NatWest Group packaged Reward accounts, including Ulster Bank ufirstgold and Ufirst Private, and some off sale accounts (Select Silver, Select Platinum and Premier Reward Black) from today (1st October).
Benefits included with package will vary depending on type of account opened. Please visit the NatWest website for more information.
Notes to editors
¹NatWest commissioned a three-stage research programme during August to October 2025, combining quantitative surveys of more than 3,000 respondents with qualitative focus groups. The research included NatWest customers, packaged account and Premier customers and prospective customers, and explored 37 potential account benefits to understand customer priorities, preferred combinations of benefits and perceptions of value.
Independent personal finance expert Andrew Hagger of MoneyComms, reviewed packaged current accounts available to new customers, comparing monthly cost and the breadth and value of benefits offered. The research and analysis was conducted using provider websites between 9 and 14 September 2026.
Standard packaged accounts were grouped into comparable price bands, with features including insurance, breakdown cover, health and wellbeing benefits and rewards considered. The analysis assumes customers make use of all benefits included within the package.
