- NatWest funding will support RED Driver Training’s next phase of growth and enhance efficiencies across the whole business
- RED Driver Training is a significant employer in the North East, with headquarters in Billingham
- RED’S CEO Seb Goldin has over 25 years’ experience in driver education
As a significant British employer, RED Driver Training employs over 100 staff at its Billingham headquarters and manages a nationwide network of more than 2,000 driving instructors. As a result of the funding package from NatWest, the business hopes to drive further efficiencies by optimising its use of technology and continuing to recruit.
RED’s recruitment plan focuses on instructors – whether they are at the start of their driving school careers or are longstanding experienced teachers. The funding will also propel the business’s digital strategy. A key priority is the continued development of the ‘Learn to Drive with RED’ app, which is set to expand RED’s market share of new young drivers. The app’s evolution will optimise blended learning technology, helping students to not only qualify as drivers but also build the skills and confidence to stay safe on the roads for years to come.
Alongside its core proposition of delivering driving lessons through a trusted instructor franchise model, the business also offers comprehensive B2B services. Namely, their corporate training division – RED Corporate – which offers fleet training, health and safety, and compliance training for drivers.
Seb Goldin has been CEO of RED Driver Training for the past 4 years, having acquired 25 years’ experience in driver education throughout his career.
Commenting on the deal, Seb said: “NatWest’s investment will help us truly transform RED Driver Training, further strengthening our position in the UK market and allow us to train even more drivers at all stages of their driving careers. Working with a local NatWest team, who not only understand the industry but have expertise in doing business at both a national and regional level, has been unparalleled.”
David Wilkinson, Relationship Manager at NatWest commented: “As one of the leading driving schools in the UK, we are delighted to support RED Driver Training in this exciting phase of growth. This funding package is testimony to our longstanding relationship with the business, having worked with them for six years, and we are looking forward to seeing how they continue to grow and innovate within the sector.”
