As families prepare for the start of a new school year, NatWest is helping children and teenagers take their next step towards financial independence with limited-time bonuses worth £20 for new Rooster Card and Adapt customers.

The Back-to- School offers will give families the option to make the most of gift card or a pocket money top-up at what can be an expensive point in the calendar, whilst getting started with products designed to build healthy money habits and confidence in every stage of a young person’s financial journey.

NatWest Rooster Money

Families signing up to a Rooster Card for 6-17-year-olds, through the pocket money app NatWest Rooster Money, can receive a £20 pocket money bonus* when opening a new account. For younger children, Rooster Money helps families introduce concepts such as earning, saving and spending, enabling young people to get hands on and develop positive money habits within a safe environment and with oversight from a parent or guardian.

Adapt Under 18s

Meanwhile, young people aged 11-17 opening a new NatWest Adapt account can receive a £20 gift card, helping them start the new school year with a boost towards the things they need most**. As young people become more financially independent, Adapt provides an age-appropriate bank account for 11 to 17-year-olds, with features like paying friends (ages 13+) and interest on their balance***, designed to help them manage, and grow, their money with confidence and independence.

Sandi Royden, Head of NatWest Retail Banking Customer Propositions, said: "Back-to-school is often a fresh start for families, with children returning to routines, setting goals and developing new habits.

"Whether a child is receiving pocket money for the first time or a teenager is beginning to manage their own spending, our youth proposition is designed to support young people at every stage of their financial journey."

NatWest Rooster Money and Adapt provide practical digital tools that help turn managing money into an everyday habit. Together, they support young people in building the confidence, capability and independence with money they ’ll need as they grow up .

In addition to these accounts, NatWest provides Thrive, the bank’s financial education programme, which has now been delivered in almost nine out of ten UK secondary schools. It is part of a wider commitment to helping young people build financial confidence through a combination of financial education, guidance and age-appropriate banking tools. These resources can be accessed through youth clubs, schools and the NatWest Thrive digital platform.”
