7th August 2026 – NatWest Group today introduces First Active, a digital savings proposition designed to bring greater choice to customers in the UK's savings market.
First Active brings a competitive 4.5% instant access savings rate and a simple online experience, allowing customers to open an account in minutes with as little as £1.
Designed for customers who actively manage their finances online, First Active combines flexibility and competitive returns.
Focused on bringing more options to UK savers, First Active will expand customer choice through a digital-first savings proposition tailored to today's more active saver.
The rollout of the new savings offering comes as research highlights a growing shift in how people approach managing money in their savings, with customers increasingly opting for flexibility and control.
53% of those questioned prioritised a savings account which gave them easy access to their money. 49% felt this gave them greater control and 37% appreciated the flexibility*.

- The interest rate will consist of a 12-month fixed bonus rate with an underlying variable rate of 3%. After 12 months the product will revert to the variable rate of 3%.
- At launch, the product will offer a headline interest rate of 4.50% annual equivalent rate (AER) consisting of a 1.50% bonus rate and a variable rate of 3%.
- There are no restrictions or conditions that the customer must meet to receive the 12-month bonus rate at account opening beyond the basic eligibility criteria.
- No tiered pricing based on deposit balances.
- No minimum deposit amount and £250,000 maximum per individual deposit.
- Maximum total deposit limit of £1M.
