Iain Morrison has been appointed as Regional Managing Director, Commercial Mid-Market (CMM), for the Royal Bank of Scotland. He replaces Judith Cruickshank who was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the bank's Retail business earlier this year.

Iain brings three decades of experience leading corporate and commercial banking franchises at HSBC across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He has a strong background in supporting business customers of all sizes, from SMEs and mid-market companies through to global corporates.

Iain’s appointment further underlines the Royal Bank’s commitment to growth in Scotland and to strengthening its position as Scotland’s biggest bank for business. The Royal Bank of Scotland supports 110,000 Scottish businesses, with 7,600 of these businesses in this vital mid-market segment.

The announcement comes as the NatWest Group’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Thwaite is in Scotland to meet customers and colleagues across the country, ahead of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s 300th anniversary next year. This included hosting a roundtable discussion with mid-market business customers in Glasgow.

Robert Begbie, CEO Commercial & Institutional, NatWest Group, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Iain to the Royal Bank of Scotland as he takes on this important leadership role for our Commercial Mid-Market business.

“The Royal Bank has been part of Scotland’s economic story for almost 300 years, and our ambition is to continue playing a key role in helping Scottish businesses invest, grow and compete.

“Iain brings deep commercial banking experience and a strong track record of supporting businesses across a range of markets, which will be invaluable as we strengthen our support for mid-market customers across Scotland.”

Iain Morrison, Regional Managing Director, Commercial Mid-Market Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “I’m delighted to join the Royal Bank of Scotland at such an important moment for the bank and for businesses across Scotland.

“Scotland has a strong community of ambitious mid-market businesses that are vital to jobs, investment and economic growth. As the country’s biggest bank for the mid-market segment, we have an important role to play in helping those firms realise their ambitions - whether that is investing for the future, expanding into new markets or navigating the challenges and opportunities ahead.

“I’m looking forward to getting out across Scotland, meeting customers and working with our teams to ensure the Royal Bank continues to provide the practical support, insights and confidence that businesses need to grow.”
