NatWest unveils new student account offer with market leading interest free overdraft and £100 welcome cash

NatWest is relaunching its Student Account offer for 2026, with a market‑leading¹ interest‑free overdraft of up to £3,250 to help students manage the rising cost of university life.

  • Market‑leading interest‑free overdraft of up to £3,250 to support students through their studies
  • £100 cash incentive to help students get started at university
  • Free four‑year tastecard, unlocking savings on food, entertainment and more

Students can apply for an interest‑free overdraft of up to £2,000 in their first year, increasing to £3,250 by their third year, providing additional flexibility as financial pressures grow.

To mark this year’s offer, new Student Account customers will also receive a £100 cash incentive² and a four‑year tastecard membership², both paid within 10 days of account opening.

The tastecard helps students make the most of day‑to‑day spending, offering discounts at hundreds of restaurants and takeaways including Black Sheep Coffee, Domino’s and Krispy Kreme, alongside Coffee Club with 25% off barista‑made drinks. Students can also access savings on cinema tickets and shopping.

The offer is available to both new and existing customers opening a NatWest Student Account online at www.natwest.com/students.

Paul Slinger, Head of Customer Onboarding at NatWest, said: “Starting university is an exciting milestone, but it’s also often the first time students are managing their own money day to day. An interest‑free overdraft can provide a vital safety net as students find their feet, supported by tools to help them budget confidently and stay in control. The cash incentive helps with upfront costs, while the tastecard opens up more opportunities to socialise and make new friends.”

Students also benefit from a range of money management tools in the NatWest mobile app to help them stay on top of their finances. Spending tracks where money goes at a glance, while Split Bill and Request Money make sharing costs with friends simple. Round Ups automatically sets aside spare change to build savings, while features such as cardless cash, quick transfers from other banks and in‑app credit score tracking give students greater control and flexibility as they build good financial habits.
