One month since the start of the invasion of Ukraine, and NatWest Group has been scaling its response to support communities and colleagues that have been impacted.

Donations to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal from our colleagues and customers have now reached almost £7 million, which includes £2.5 million of matching by the Group.  But the need is still great, so please continue to support the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal by donating here.

How else are we supporting?

Bank accounts for refugees arriving from Ukraine

We’ve set out information to help refugees arriving from Ukraine who are in need of a bank account, see pages below:

Homes for Ukraine Scheme

NatWest Group is supportive of the UK government’s Homes for Ukraine Scheme and we are working closely with UK Finance and the wider industry to confirm the details for UK homeowners. For customers and colleagues who are taking part in the Homes for Ukraine scheme, we do not require mortgage customers to register or seek permission. You can find out more about the scheme here: https://www.ukfinance.org.uk/our-expertise/mortgages/homes-ukraine

Emergency response leave for colleagues

We have already seen the remarkable efforts of many of our colleagues in Poland, in response to the invasion.  Given the response to what is happening, colleagues can request two additional volunteering days as emergency response leave. This includes taking part in the UK Homes for Ukraine Scheme or local equivalent. It’s in addition to three days every year to volunteer during business hours which all permanent and fixed term contract employees across our global locations can request.

CEO Alison Rose said: “I want to say a heartfelt thank you to our colleagues and customers whose generosity in giving to the DEC Appeal will go directly to the people of Ukraine in such desperate need of help.

"We’ll continue to do what we can to support. That’s why we’ve taken measures to assist Ukrainian refugees, including help to open bank accounts and support for customers taking part in the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

"I want to also recognise the great lengths my colleagues have gone to, particularly those in Poland, to help the people of Ukraine in recent weeks. Their dedication is incredibly touching and inspirational.”
